The Database and GUI Design workshop is no longer associated with HAL-PC, the Houston Area League of PC-Users.

HAL-PC as an organization will no longer exist at the end of July 2014. The Board of Directors decided they would rather quit and take the entire organization down rather than move. The lack of interest in voting at the offices in June also contributed to their decision. It was the first time in all of the years I had been part of HAL that they “required” you to be there in person to vote. I believe 2 people showed up.

We meet the 2nd Saturday of each month at the Sosa Comminuty Center at 1414 Wirt Rd, Houston, TX.

We use SQL Server 2012 for the database portion of the group. This is the only database that we cover in this user group at this time.

For the GUI side of the SIG, we use Visual Studio 2012 and 2013. We cover both WPF, Silverlight and ASP.net using both the full version of Visual Studio and the Express versions. We also cover using Access as a GUI development tool also if there are requests for it. The versions of Access that we cover are 2010 and 2013.

Take a look in the Meetings section to see what we are going to cover each month. We will try and keep this updated so you will know what is going on.

In our sponsors section, you will find companies that we use the software from or that have generously given our specific group discounts for the educational purposes of our SIG.

We are currently redesigning the site and taking it to an MVC site. We will be adding the menu items listed at the top as I can get to them.
